Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is another tool we can use during the course of regular therapy.
Great for trauma, EMDR helps unearth buried emotions through dialogue conducted simultaneously with eye movement, or vibrating paddles alternating from left to right, or sound going back and forth, left to right.
There are therapists who just do EMDR. At Family Mental Health of Northern Michigan, we use it only as a supplemental tool upon request. We also do a hybrid of EMDR with Hypnothrapy and PE Therapy, which is very effective!
